I study and practice Feng Shui. For me, Feng Shui is a philosophy, and a style of design. It provides me with a sort of “recipe” to shape, nurture, and appreciate my environment.
Here are a few pictures of the use of Feng Shui applications and cures in my home.

The front door is off center as are the 3 windows above the front door. I had the angel painted to balance that problem. The angel also symbolized (to me) welcoming people, energy, Chi in, and protects and blesses exiting people and Chi. See the butterflies? There are 9, an auspicious # and they are flying INTO the house, free to come and to go. | |

Behind Buddha (obviously
welcoming) there are mirrors, the entry way is narrow and the mirrors open the
space and soften the corners.

The column anchors the Chi in
the main hall. This was a problem area, I always felt like energy was pulling my
down. I wish I had a before and after picture, the column balances and secures
the area.

The picture of the fireplace
is more of the blue tile than the mirror or Buddha. Color and elements are
important in Feng Shui and a balance of all is optimal. I couldn't figure out
how to finish the fireplace and I looked to Feng Shui and found the element of
water was missing in this area. You don't want too much water in a fireplace, so
the color blue was the perfect answer. I have almost no blue in the house, it is
all jewel tones, and I think the addition of blue in the center of the house is
effective and something I wouldn't have thought of without Feng Shui.

The flags are in a "dead area" in the
garden. Worse the dead area is what I look at from my kitchen sink. Now instead
of looking at the neighbors' garage door I see movement and color of the flags.
A bonus was with the windows open I hear the flapping of the flags. This is
probably this best use of Feng Shui in the house, activating "dead energy".

The last two pictures are what I look
at when I work. I find it pleasing and uplifting.

My fish are in the center of the house and represent all 5 elements, so hopefully that balances and slows the Chi down. |
